Distinguished Scholar Coming to LMU


Starting next semester in Spring 2011, world renowned journalist and professor Tom Plate is set to become the newest "Distinguished Scholar" of the Asian Pacific Studies Department. Working for numerous newspaper columns since 1996, his work can be seen internationally in places such as Dubai, Tokyo, and South Korea. Not only is Professor Plate an international columnist, he is also the author of the best selling book "Conversations With Lee Kuan Yew". He is also the founder of the Asian Pacific Media Network and of the Pacific Perspectives Media Center, a senior fellow at USC's Center for Our Digital Future, as well as being a member of the UCLA Faculty Center, Princeton Club of New York, Pacific Century Institute, and the Pacific Council on International Policy. Tom Plate will be teaching Intro to the Media and Politics of Asia so make sure to join his class in Spring 2011!
